About The Position

Miller Industries is seeking an Experienced Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder for their 1st Shift. The hours are 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, with overtime as required for production on weekends. This employee is responsible for fabricating the assigned products listed on the production schedule in accordance with the requirements listed in the detail drawings. In this role, you will be part of the team that is building custom conveyor systems, stairs, platforms, and baggage handling systems.

Requirements

  • 5 years of fabrication welding experience (MIG, TIG, and Arc) with a variety of metals (mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel), welding certifications are a plus.
  • A thorough knowledge of welding procedures and practices are essential to ensure the quality of the product.
  • Ability to read cut lists and engineering drawings for the purpose of cutting and assembling various materials.
  • Mechanical abilities; skill in using tools such as saws, drills, grinders, cut-off wheels, clamps, levels, and tape measures.
  • Always communicating with clarity; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to maintain a professional and clean workspace and assist in shop housekeeping.
  • Strong safety mindset and willingness to be part of and promote our safety culture.
  • A positive attitude that works well with a fast-paced team.
  • Critical thinking and good judgment.
  • Team player who can also perform without supervision.
  • Must have the physical and mental strength and endurance to be able to perform duties, in at times extreme environments, as well as the ability to handle stressors of the position in operational and administrative situations.
  • Required to frequently lift and move 10-50 pounds.
  • Expected to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and operate objects, tools, and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, position, fit and weld various structural components, including structural plates, beams, etc., in accordance with the supplied structural fabrication drawings.
  • Perform welding on various materials at required position using different welding processes.
  • Set up and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
  • Operate grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify possible safety hazards, and ensure issues are promptly addressed.
