Structural Steel Detailer
About The Position
A growing structural and miscellaneous metals company in the Carlisle area is actively hiring a Steel Detailer to support fabrication and project execution. This is a high-impact role with long-term growth, including involvement in future automation and advanced fabrication technology. If you have strong detailing experience and want to be part of a company investing in the future of steel fabrication — this is a great opportunity. Important: Only candidates with relevant steel detailing experience and who live within a 60-mile radius will be considered. We are NOT looking for subcontractors, remote detailers, hybrid detailers, etc. This is not an entry-level drafting position.
Requirements
- 2+ years of steel detailing experience (structural or miscellaneous metals)
- Experience with Tekla Structures preferred (or SDS/2, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and steel construction
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specs independently
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn new systems and automation technology
Responsibilities
- Create detailed shop drawings using Tekla or similar detailing software
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Produce accurate layouts for fabrication and installation
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and shop teams
- Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and efficiency
- Assist with material takeoffs and project planning
- Support implementation of future automation systems and software
