About The Position

We are looking for a dependable CNC Equipment Operator to support structural steel fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operating CNC-controlled machinery used to process steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safe production practices. The ideal candidate has experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment, understands fabrication drawings, and is comfortable operating industrial equipment in a fast-paced production setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of experience operating CNC equipment in structural steel fabrication or another heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools to inspect finished work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a production team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school or trade school training is a plus.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
  • Familiarity with handling large structural steel components in a fabrication shop.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes and rigging equipment.
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Verify finished parts using precision measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and squares.
  • Make basic CNC programming edits or machine adjustments for varying material sizes and thicknesses.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain an organized work area while following OSHA guidelines and established shop safety procedures.
