About The Position

This is a paid temporary position limited to a maximum of 9 months from the date of hire. In addition to being a fantastic place to work, CDOT offers all temporary employees paid sick leave. Temporary employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, capped at 48 hours. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years.
  • Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.
  • A current valid driver’s license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of the rest area and roadside appearance, including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, and tree trimming
  • Repair and paint picnic tables
  • Repair irrigation systems
  • Maintain lighting
  • Ensure cleanliness of restrooms
  • Sweep around buildings, sidewalks, and trailers
  • Empty trash cans and maintain smoking area
  • Level ground where there are washouts
  • Assist with the remodeling of offices, additions to buildings, and new construction
  • Assist with maintenance of key and lock systems
  • Assist in the installation/repair of roofs and garage doors
  • Assist with the installation and repair of concrete
  • Perform minor plumbing installations and repair
  • Assist with the installation and repair of water heaters, HVAC, boilers, circulating pumps, and thermostats
  • Perform snow removal in parking lots and sidewalks
  • Respond during snow events to perform duties
  • Assist in road closures and traffic control
  • Assist in safety repairs and inspections with the local fire department
  • Use a forklift or front-end loader to haul materials
  • Use a variety of hand tools, such as weed whackers, shovels, saws, tree trimmers, brooms, etc.
  • Operate light to heavy equipment, such as snow blowers, garden tractors, mowers, and front-end loaders
  • Use computers for timesheet, billing, work orders, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
