Temporary Structural Maintenance Worker - Sterling
About The Position
This is a paid temporary position limited to a maximum of 9 months from the date of hire. In addition to being a fantastic place to work, CDOT offers all temporary employees paid sick leave. Temporary employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, capped at 48 hours. Requirements
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years.
- Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks.
- A current valid driver’s license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance of the rest area and roadside appearance, including mowing, weeding, fertilizing, and tree trimming
- Repair and paint picnic tables
- Repair irrigation systems
- Maintain lighting
- Ensure cleanliness of restrooms
- Sweep around buildings, sidewalks, and trailers
- Empty trash cans and maintain smoking area
- Level ground where there are washouts
- Assist with the remodeling of offices, additions to buildings, and new construction
- Assist with maintenance of key and lock systems
- Assist in the installation/repair of roofs and garage doors
- Assist with the installation and repair of concrete
- Perform minor plumbing installations and repair
- Assist with the installation and repair of water heaters, HVAC, boilers, circulating pumps, and thermostats
- Perform snow removal in parking lots and sidewalks
- Respond during snow events to perform duties
- Assist in road closures and traffic control
- Assist in safety repairs and inspections with the local fire department
- Use a forklift or front-end loader to haul materials
- Use a variety of hand tools, such as weed whackers, shovels, saws, tree trimmers, brooms, etc.
- Operate light to heavy equipment, such as snow blowers, garden tractors, mowers, and front-end loaders
- Use computers for timesheet, billing, work orders, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
