About The Position

VHB is seeking a Bridge Structures Intern to join its Structures group in the New York, NY office during Summer 2027. The intern will assist with planning, analysis, design, and detailing for bridge and other transportation-related structural projects, including railroad and highway projects. The role includes collaboration with VHB staff, clients, and consultants, as well as data analysis, field data collection, project support, and preparation of written materials and reports.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's civil engineering program.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
Self-motivated and attentive to detail.
Strong work ethic and desire to learn and achieve.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS.

Responsibilities

Assist in engineering design and detailing of highway, pedestrian, and railroad bridges and other structures.
Collaborate with VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.
Assist in developing planning and engineering solutions.
Assist in data mining and visualization.
Perform data analysis and calculations.
Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities.
Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports.
