About The Position

Techno Consult is seeking a Structural Inspector to support a major infrastructure improvement program in the Baltimore region. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile transportation project that will help modernize and strengthen critical public infrastructure for generations to come. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with experience inspecting structural construction activities in complex, active construction environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of structural elements, construction methods, quality assurance procedures, and agency compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing construction inspection on structural, transportation, bridge, tunnel, rail, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on projects for public agencies such as transportation authorities, state DOTs, transit agencies, or other government clients is required.
  • Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, materials, and inspection practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents.
  • Experience preparing detailed inspection reports and maintaining project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Baltimore area.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily field inspections of structural construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor contractor operations involving concrete, steel, foundations, retaining structures, rehabilitation work, and other structural elements.
  • Document construction progress, quantities, deficiencies, and field observations through detailed daily reports.
  • Review materials, workmanship, testing procedures, and quality control activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and agency representatives to address field issues and maintain project compliance.
  • Verify adherence to approved safety practices and environmental requirements.
  • Attend construction meetings and provide inspection updates as required.
  • Maintain accurate project records, photographs, and supporting documentation.
