About The Position

Skillforce is seeking experienced Structural Fitters and Fabricators for a long-term shop project in Grantsville, MD. This position offers steady hours, significant overtime potential, paid lunches, and $100/day per diem for qualified travelers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience fitting and fabricating structural steel, be comfortable working from blueprints and shop drawings, and have experience performing MIG tack welds.

Requirements

• Previous structural fitting and fabrication experience
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
• Experience using fabrication tools and measuring equipment
• Must have a 25-foot tape measure and needle-nose pliers
• Willingness to work 50–60+ hours per week
• Reliable attendance and transportation
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Must successfully complete pre-employment requirements, including drug screening and background check

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans
• Fit, align, and assemble structural steel components
• Perform MIG tack welds to secure fabricated assemblies
• Take accurate measurements and verify dimensions and tolerances
• Inspect completed assemblies for quality and accuracy
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
• Work as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines
