About The Position

This position is for a Structural Design Engineer in STV's Transportation group, based in one of their Pennsylvania offices (Douglassville, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, or Pittsburgh). The role involves using professional concepts to develop resolutions to critical issues. The individual will be responsible for the design of new bridges and the rehabilitation of existing bridges, as well as quality assurance. The work primarily focuses on highway bridges, railroad bridges, and transportation facility structures within Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0- plus years of experience
  • Knowledge of PennDOT, PA Turnpike projects
  • Experience in analysis and design of bridges, including rehabilitation design
  • Experience with MicroStation and STAAD or similar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • New Jersey, New York, and other authority experience
  • CSI Bridge experience
  • OpenBridge Design experience
  • CBSI certification

Responsibilities

  • Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation and seismic retrofit design, and transportation facilities
  • Participating on Design Build Projects and Pursuits
  • Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance on Transportation Projects
  • Contract Document production, including drawings and specifications
  • Bridge load ratings using LRFR and LFD
  • Review of construction phase submittals
  • Perform design calculations
  • Develop plan details
  • Quantity take offs
  • Specification writing and other technical report writing
  • Cost Estimating
  • Mentoring
  • Quality Assurance
