About The Position

DCI Engineers is seeking a Structural Engineering Project Manager in our New York City office. This role involves applying structural engineering expertise to lead complex building projects, mentor junior engineers, collaborate across teams, and develop client relationships. The position requires managing projects from inception through completion, including design, bidding, and construction administration phases. Responsibilities include team leadership, workload and scheduling projections, shop drawing review, fee proposal preparation, billing management, permit coordination, and serving as the primary client contact.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of structural engineering experience, with 2+ years of project management experience.
  • PE license
  • Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Proficient in RISA, RAM, ETABS/SAFE or similar structural design software
  • Experience designing and managing projects using steel, concrete, wood, and masonry, for new and existing buildings.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects; ability to balance technical involvement with project management responsibilities
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with BIM Designers
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget tracking, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Desire to provide excellent service and build long-term client relationships
  • Strong communication skills with clients and internal project teams

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager for building structural projects, with full responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and quality; lead projects through all phases, including design, bid, and construction administration.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers, and collaborate with BIM Designers to coordinate design details and construction document requirements
  • Develop workload and scheduling projections for project staff
  • Coordinate shop drawing review during construction
  • Help preparing fee proposals and contracts
  • Manage billing and evaluate additional service requests
  • Coordinate permit responses and construction support
  • Act as the primary client contact, maintaining and expanding relationships.
