About The Position

We're partnering confidentially with a respected Canadian infrastructure manufacturer seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its Structural Engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys balancing technical excellence with people leadership. You'll serve as the engineering leader, mentor and develop engineers and designers, establish technical standards, and work closely with executive leadership to deliver complex steel bridge and structural infrastructure projects across Canada. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Ontario
  • 8+ years of Structural Engineering experience
  • Previous leadership experience managing or mentoring engineers and technical teams
  • Strong structural steel and infrastructure engineering background
  • Excellent understanding of Canadian design standards and engineering best practices
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bridge engineering experience
  • Consulting engineering background
  • Engineer-of-Record experience
  • Experience reviewing and sealing engineering documents
  • Experience with RISA 3D, Midas Civil, IDEA StatiCa, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing or fabrication teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of Structural Engineers, EITs, and Designers
  • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and quality processes
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing engineering culture
  • Support recruitment, succession planning, and professional development
  • Act as Engineer-of-Record and provide technical oversight for structural engineering deliverables
  • Review engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian engineering standards and applicable design codes
  • Provide technical guidance on complex structural and bridge projects
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams
  • Support project planning, value engineering, estimating, and constructability reviews
  • Assist customers, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders with technical solutions
  • Improve engineering workflows, efficiency, and project execution
  • Lead engineering process improvements and standardization initiatives
  • Evaluate new technologies, structural systems, and design methodologies
  • Support product development and engineering innovation
  • Monitor engineering KPIs and recommend operational improvements
