Structural Engineering Internship
About The Position
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a dedicated and hard-working college student for a summer internship in Structural Engineering. This paid internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, learn from mentors and leaders, and contribute to diverse projects including industrial and commercial building design, water/wastewater treatment structures, and earth retention structures. The intern will be involved in preparing plans, sections, and details, performing structural calculations using FEA software, reviewing construction submittals, supporting engineers, collaborating with team members, and utilizing Autodesk REVIT.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Major: Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis
- Current GPA of 3.2 or higher
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- Preference will be given to students that do not require sponsorship
Responsibilities
- Preparation of framing and foundation plans, sections, and details
- Preparation of structural calculations, including the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
- Reviewing construction submittments, such as shop drawings and product data
- Supporting Engineers in completing project deliverables
- Collaborating with team members on new ideas/innovations
- Using Autodesk REVIT
