Structural Engineering Intern

About The Position
As a Structural Engineering Intern at DN, you will gain hands-on experience in civil engineering and construction, contribute to real projects with guidance from an industry mentor, and develop skills while learning about the lifecycle of heavy-civil construction projects from conception to completion. DN provides liquid storage design and construction services and has built more than 3,500 prestressed concrete liquid storage tanks over the past 90 years.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Civil Engineering program.
- Experience working with CAD software and Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to problem-solve in individual and team settings.
- Transportation to Wakefield, Massachusetts.
Nice To Haves
- A structural focus in the Civil Engineering program.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Assist Design Engineers with preliminary tank designs.
- Draft preliminary tank details.
- Review geotechnical project reports.
- Customize project specification language.
- Create project-specific construction information packages to support the DN Construction Department in building new tanks.
- Support Research and Development projects in the Engineering Department.
- Visit tank construction sites and assist Design Engineers with tank and shoring inspections.
