About The Position

AECOM’s Buildings + Places business line is seeking a Structural Engineering Co-op to be based in Boston, MA. This position is a great opportunity to get exposure to a wide variety of vertical structural engineering projects of all material types and sizes. You will be working with a Boston-based team alongside a greater US EAST region. Our group services projects and clients across North America and around the globe. Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or in another related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study.
  • Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Builds analytical and design structural models under supervision of an experienced structural engineer.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Participates in site investigation, construction progress, and other site visits alongside an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
