About The Position

Structural Co-Op Opportunity at HGA - starting Spring of 2027! Locations: Milwaukee, WI HGA is a national multidisciplinary design firm rooted in architecture and engineering. We are an award-winning architectural and engineering firm and a leader in the design of healthcare facilities, corporate headquarters, laboratories, museums, higher education buildings, and civic facilities. Our Structural Engineering team designs innovative, resilient, and sustainable structures that support exceptional architectural solutions and positively impact the communities we serve. This is a paid co-op/internship that is typically a three-term commitment beginning the Spring 2027 semester, however we can be flexible with timing. HGA is both team-oriented and employee-friendly and social activities are integrated into our office culture. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis), or a related discipline.
  • Have completed at least two years of engineering coursework.
  • Ability to commute to and work from the Milwaukee office.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship, co-op, construction, or design experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and/or structural analysis software is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated interest in building structures and structural design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist structural engineers with the analysis and design of building structural systems.
  • Learn to use industry-standard structural analysis and design software.
  • Develop and coordinate structural models and construction documents using Revit.
  • Participate in project coordination with architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Support the preparation of calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of project types, including healthcare, higher education, workplace, and civic facilities.
  • Perform site visits and assist with field investigations as opportunities arise.
