About The Position
AECOM's Buildings + Places team in Burnaby is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the delivery of high-impact building and infrastructure projects across Western Canada. This is a newly created position. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced structural leaders on a diverse portfolio of projects while developing technical expertise, project delivery capabilities, and leadership skills within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligible for registration.
- Experience supporting building and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian structural codes and standards.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years of structural engineering experience in British Columbia.
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience delivering transit, municipal, industrial, institutional, commercial, or public-sector projects.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to technical excellence.
- Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD Pro, or equivalent structural analysis and design software.
- Eligibility for Government of Canada security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Support the structural design and delivery of building and infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
- Perform structural analysis and design using steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
- Coordinate with architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Participate in site reviews, structural assessments, investigations, and construction support services.
- Assist with proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.
- Support quality reviews and the application of AECOM's technical standards and best practices.
- Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to develop technical and project leadership capabilities.
