About The Position

AECOM's Buildings + Places team in Burnaby is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the delivery of high-impact building and infrastructure projects across Western Canada. This is a newly created position. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced structural leaders on a diverse portfolio of projects while developing technical expertise, project delivery capabilities, and leadership skills within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering + four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligible for registration.
  • Experience supporting building and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian structural codes and standards.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of structural engineering experience in British Columbia.
  • 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience delivering transit, municipal, industrial, institutional, commercial, or public-sector projects.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to technical excellence.
  • Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD Pro, or equivalent structural analysis and design software.
  • Eligibility for Government of Canada security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the structural design and delivery of building and infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
  • Perform structural analysis and design using steel, concrete, timber, and masonry systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in site reviews, structural assessments, investigations, and construction support services.
  • Assist with proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.
  • Support quality reviews and the application of AECOM's technical standards and best practices.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to develop technical and project leadership capabilities.
