About The Position

Kimley-Horn’s Seattle, Washington office is seeking a Civil Engineer with at least four years of experience to join its Structures team. This is an onsite, non-remote position. The Structural Engineer supports and leads structural projects, develops drawings and specifications, performs design and project documentation work, and contributes to client and business development activities. The role also includes mentoring Engineers-in-Training and supporting construction-phase efforts.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or ability to obtain one within 12 months.
• Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp, including some ability to produce drawings and details when needed.
• Knowledge and experience with structural analysis and design software, such as STAAD, RAM, E-Tabs, MathCAD, TEDDS, ADAPT PT, and other structural design software.
• Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines.
• Detail-oriented team player able to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to multitask and work on several projects concurrently.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills, with an ongoing commitment to personal and staff development.
• Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing and leading projects.
• Develop complete sets of structural drawings and technical specifications independently.
• Train and mentor Engineers-in-Training in structural engineering.
• Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages.
• Maintain a quality control program for the entire project.
• Lead and support construction-phase efforts on building projects in structural engineering.
• Participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members.
• Help identify project opportunities through networking with new and existing clients.
