About The Position

Join our Anchorage, Alaska, office and advance your career with a focus on bridge and waterfront/marine structural design. As a Structural Engineer you will lead and assist in the analysis, design, and review of various bridge and waterfront structures, including vehicle and pedestrian bridges, gangways and trestles, marine terminals, harbors and marinas, mooring and berthing structures, piers, wharves, bulkheads, and quays, and breakwaters and shore protection structures. You will oversee the preparation of detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD. You will also conduct and manage inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, producing thorough technical reports with actionable recommendations. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, including site-civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, and permitting. You will also contribute to project management, client communication, and proposal preparation to support business development.

Requirements

  • A B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in structural analysis and design, ideally with bridges and/or waterfront structures
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD
  • A strong understanding of structural loads, load paths, relevant design codes/standards, and construction practices
  • Experience with structural steel, concrete, wood, and masonry design
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative approach to project work and a desire to mentor junior team members
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for fieldwork and client meetings
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license, a good driving record, and vehicle insurance
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
