Engineers work in teams organized by ship area or function to develop designs from established requirements. They use state-of-the-art computer methods and conventional hand calculations to conduct engineering analyses, and review designs from concept formulation through detailed models and design disclosure in a Design-Build-Sustain environment. The role also supports construction during the build phase, interfaces with a multifunction design team, and participates in Navy design reviews.
