About The Position

We are actively looking for an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Walnut Creek or Oakland office. The Structural Engineer is a developing individual contributor who supports the design and analysis of waterfront and marine infrastructure with growing independence, contributing to structural calculations, drawings, and specifications across a range of marine project types. Working under general supervision, the role begins to take ownership of defined technical tasks, including finite element structural modeling and inspection or rehabilitation assessment support. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with 0-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required with 2–4 years of experience, also considered
  • Working knowledge of structural engineering, including design and detailing for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures.
  • Ability to perform finite element static and dynamic structural modeling; understanding of waterfront structural systems, material performance, and rehabilitation considerations.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, structural analysis software such as STAAD or SAP, and Microsoft Office required
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Responsibilities

  • Assists with structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures
  • Assists with preparation of design concepts, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs
  • Performs finite element static and dynamic structural modelling.
  • Coordinates plan details with drafting technicians
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
  • Assists with inspection of waterfront structures and preparation of inspection reports
  • Learns Moffatt & Nichol quality and documentation standards
