5K Power is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the engineering, design, fabrication, transportation, lifting, installation, and field deployment of 5K Power’s growing portfolio of engineered power equipment and prefabricated electrical systems. This position will specialize in the structural design and analysis of fabricated steel and metal assemblies, including electrical skids, equipment platforms, enclosures, structural frames, panels, supports, lifting structures, and other custom-fabricated products. The Structural Engineer will work closely with the Director of Engineering & Design, electrical engineers, VDC/BIM, manufacturing, fabrication, QA/QC, rigging, and field operations to ensure every 5K Power product is structurally sound, manufacturable, transportable, liftable, and capable of safely supporting the equipment and loads for which it is designed. A major responsibility of this position will be developing engineered lifting and rigging solutions, including lifting points, pad eyes, spreader-bar connection points, forklift pockets, crane pick points, and other methods used to safely move and install 5K Power equipment. The ideal candidate understands the difference between designing something that is simply strong enough and designing something that can actually be fabricated, transported, rigged, lifted, installed, and repeatedly deployed in the field.
