About The Position

The Estimator – Electrical Prefab develops accurate, competitive cost estimates and proposals for electrical wall panels, prefabricated units, and overhead rack projects. The role reviews drawings and specs, performs material and labor takeoffs, sources vendor pricing, and collaborates with engineering, project management, and shop teams to align bids with real production capacity, lead times, and costs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in electrical construction, prefabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Proficient in reading electrical drawings, schematics, and specs
  • Strong math, analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel and industry estimating software.
  • Direct knowledge of electrical prefab assemblies (wall panels, modular units, overhead racks).
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant industry standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specs, and bid documents to construct accurate estimates for wall panels, modular units, and overhead racks.
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs and calculate labor hour estimates for prefab assemblies.
  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and vendor quotes for components and materials.
  • Prepare and submit competitive, complete bid proposals within strict customer and internal deadlines.
  • Work with project managers, engineering, and shop leadership to validate constructability, lead times, capacity, and pricing assumptions.
  • Identify value-engineering options to increase bid competitiveness while preserving quality and code compliance.
  • Participate in bid reviews, contract negotiations, and scope clarification meetings.
  • Track historical cost and production data to continually sharpen estimate precision.
  • Maintain up-to-date pricing databases, unit costs, vendor lists, and labor rates.
  • Maintain organized estimate files, bid logs, and documentation for both awarded and lost proposals.
