About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a mid-level to senior-level Structural Engineer with a minimum of five to ten years of experience in the design of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures for their Bozeman office. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, paid interview travel, or relocation expenses. This position is not remote.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with the structural design of buildings or similar structures.
  • Experience with structural computer analysis software systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Experience with the latest release of Autodesk Revit design tools.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong team of professionals and support staff within a cooperative multidiscipline office performing at a high level of satisfaction to clients.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Licensed Montana Civil (PE) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred.
  • Licensed Montana Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform project management duties, perform, and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects.
  • Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
  • Lead a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to execute structural designs.
  • Meet with the project team to ensure effective communication flow during design.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of structural members such as beams, columns, walls, joists, and foundations.
  • Develop structural models that mathematically define and idealize the actual structure being designed.
  • Use approved codes and standards to define structural demands on buildings due to wind and seismic loadings.
  • Analyze and design connections of the various structural elements in a building structure.
  • Perform analysis needed to evaluate seismic risk in existing buildings using approved structural codes and standards.
  • Assist in managing BIM and production efforts.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
