About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join their LA – Woodland Hills office. This role is for a team player within a progressive, multi-discipline firm. The ideal candidate will be a licensed engineer with substantial experience in designing steel, concrete, and wood commercial/institutional buildings. The position involves performing and overseeing structural analysis, design, and detailing, collaborating with architects, owners, and contractors, leading project teams, managing project profitability, and maintaining client relationships. The role also includes supporting departmental needs and growth objectives.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil or Structural engineering.
• PE or SE registration in any state.
• 10 or more years of experience with design of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
• Ability to work independently with proper engineering oversight.
• Ability to work and collaborate in larger project teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter who is able to see the big picture and connect the vision of the company with his/her job, be persistent, and follow through in a consistent manner.
• Passionate about the client or pursuit and takes ownership of his/her work.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
• Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.

Nice To Haves

• Registered CA Structural Engineer.
• M.S. degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
• Multi-discipline project management experience.
• Experience with DSA and OSHPD.
• Experience with 3D modeling software (ETABS, RISA, SAFE).

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & institutional building projects.
• Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
• Lead project teams of engineers, designers and drafters to execute structural designs.
• Meet with the project team to ensure effective communication flow during design.
• Interface with the contractor during construction to ensure positive results with minimum complications.
• Manage profitability of projects and maintain a working relationship with clients.
• Work closely with the Discipline Manager to support the needs of the department, projects, and growth objectives.

Benefits

• Approximate Base Salary – $120,000 - $150,000+ based on experience.
• Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
