Senior Civil Engineer (10+ years)
About The Position
Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with at least ten years of experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing engineering for a variety of projects involving in the design of sites, grading, drainage, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative, results-oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.
Requirements
- At least ten years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering required
- 10 years of applicable industry experience.
- Experience performing consulting services for internal and external client utilizing Site Grading, Earthwork Calculations, Drainage (Calculations & Reports), erosion and sediment control design and calculations, Utility Layout & Sizing, Technical Report Writing, review and preparation of Technical Specifications, cost estimating, design for compliance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations; as well as general civil engineering concepts.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a variety of Civil Engineering design software applications.
- Proficient in Hydro CAD, Storm CAD and SWWM (or similar) stormwater modeling programs.
- Technical experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, technical studies, mapping documents, preparation and processing of civil construction documents, and earthwork calculations
- Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Must understand database concepts.
- Ability to travel
Nice To Haves
- Stormwater experience in Texas areas preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred.
- Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
- Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
- Active local industry involvement is a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform civil analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects
- Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
- Lead design team efforts
- Manage project team for budget and schedule control
- Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
- Conduct marketing/business development activities
- Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
- Lead Project Teams to complete project design deliverables.
- Lead the development of preliminary to final design calculations and drawings.
- Perform site due diligence and entitlement investigation and reporting.
- Review field information and perform field inspections of existing stormwater facilities.
- Perform technical writing for design reports and permitting applications.
