About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Vancouver, BC. This role involves developing and managing projects, including structural design and construction support for new or modified transportation, data center, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings and structures. The engineer will ensure conformance with building codes and project requirements, managing projects ranging from minor renovations to major undertakings. Collaboration with peer engineers and BIM modelers across different offices, as well as coordination with other disciplines, will be key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in structural design and construction support
  • Registered P. Eng in British Columbia
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
  • You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Title of Designated Structural Engineer will be an asset
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the structural analysis & design of structures and prepare drawings and specifications
  • Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFI’s, Shop Drawings, etc…) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
  • Perform QA/QC activities
