About The Position

Hanson is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Industry Market within the Building Structural Discipline. This role involves working on industrial, building, and facilities projects, as well as structural work across all Hanson markets. The position is based in Houston, TX. The engineer will support the structural needs of industrial sites and integrate structural design with civil, rail, and mechanical disciplines. Responsibilities include performing complex engineering calculations, utilizing structural design software for analysis and design, conducting structural analysis, preparing specifications, details, and construction plans. The role also involves assisting with site investigations, field reconnaissance, modeling, construction document preparation, contractor pricing assistance, and project close-out documentation. Additionally, the position includes mentoring entry-level staff and preparing/reviewing calculations, quantity take-offs, and opinions of probable construction costs.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Revit (required)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (required)
  • Experience with structural design software such as RISA (required)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and learn new skills
  • SE license or ability to obtain one (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD (desirable)
  • Experience with MicroStation (a plus)
  • 5–15 years of structural engineering experience (desirable)
  • PE license (desirable)
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and assign duties to entry-level staff
  • Prepare and review calculations, quantity take-offs, and opinions of probable construction costs
  • Other duties as assigned
