About The Position

AECOM Burnaby is seeking a motivated and skilled Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure team. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers, EITs, technologists, CAD designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality and technically challenging structural design projects within the water and wastewater conveyance and treatment sector. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other disciplines, including civil, electrical, and mechanical, on multi-disciplinary projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 6+ years of experience working with Canadian codes and design standards
  • P.Eng with EGBC is required, or ability to obtain within 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of structural design experience on general structures
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Experience with water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and water conveyance structures
  • Familiarity with CSA and U.S. design codes for concrete and steel structures
  • Proficiency with structural design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, and STAAD Pro
  • Familiarity with ACI 350: Code Requirements for Environmental Engineering Concrete Structures and Commentary

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific and moderate portions of broader assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Gather and correlate engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Complete detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and structural analysis.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identify discrepancies in results and support resolution.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules, with minimal supervision.
  • Independently complete tasks required to deliver primary structural design elements.
  • Demonstrate continued professional development and experience in a consulting engineering environment
