About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their growing team in the Calgary Office, Alberta. This role involves developing and managing projects for the construction or modification of various structures including transportation, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings. The engineer will ensure conformance with building codes, perform structural analysis, and conduct building and structural inspections. Project scopes range from minor renovations to major undertakings. The Structural Engineer will collaborate with engineers and BIM modelers in the Toronto-West head office and other global Arcadis offices, requiring coordination with other disciplines both internally and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years relevant experience in structural design
  • Registered P.Eng in Alberta.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
  • Ability to lead teams consisting of multiple engineers and CAD staff
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to lead the structural design of projects.
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset.
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis & design of structures and the preparation of drawings and specifications
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittments (RFI’s, Shop Drawings, etc…) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
  • Mentorship to Jr. Engineers
  • Perform QA/QC activities
