About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team in Orange, CA. This role will support a wide range of projects across various industries including entertainment, commercial, industrial, government, detention, and parking structures. The position offers an opportunity to develop analytical and design skills with a focus on seismic design, seismic retrofits, and advanced structural analysis methods. The Structural Engineer will work within the Buildings + Places group, contributing to architecture, interiors, building engineering, and urban planning projects. The role involves building analytical and design skills, conducting engineering design under limited supervision, creating designs and calculations, collecting and analyzing data, using computer software for engineering problems, and performing work within budget and schedule under supervision. The Structural Engineer will assist experienced staff with the design of major building projects across the United States, with construction costs up to $750M. Responsibilities include performing structural analysis and design, coordinating with other disciplines, preparing contract documents, construction administration, and authoring structural reports, assessments, and studies. The role also involves leading or working independently on smaller structural design projects and tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • US Citizenship due to federal contract/security requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience applying all major structural design codes.
  • Demonstrated experience using 3-D structural analysis software (examples include ETABS, SAP, RISA, RAM, and SAFE).
  • Experience designing in Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Timber.
  • Experience with ASCE 41 for retrofit of existing structures.
  • Experience with Wind and Seismic lateral design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of REVIT/AutoCAD to provide production support as a portion of team support and development.

Responsibilities

  • Build analytical and design skills.

  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collect and analyze data under the limited supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Perform structural analysis and design.
  • Coordinate work with other design disciplines and prepare contract documents.
  • Construction administration.
  • Author structural reports, assessments, and studies.
