About The Position
KPFF is seeking summer interns interested in experiencing the daily life of a Structural Engineer. We provide you with a summer packed with training programs to prepare you to be successful, activities to help you connect with our team, and real-world projects to apply your skills. At KPFF, 2 out of 3 of our interns return as full-time employees or return for another internship in the next year.
Requirements
- Completed bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Structures or Architectural Engineering) prior to the start of the internship.
- Transcripts must show completed courses in: Structural Analysis, Mechanics of Materials, Concrete, Steel or Wood Design.
- Students curious about Structural Engineering and wanting to understand the daily life of a Structural Engineer.
- Eager to contribute to their teams.
- Interested in making connections and getting to know the people they work with.
- Interested in Structural Engineering and would like the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of projects and conditions.
- Enjoy working with and learning from others to create work that you are proud of.
- Take the initiative to solve challenging problems.
- A proactive team member.
Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on experience in structural design, working closely with experienced engineers on real-world projects.
- Apply academic knowledge and develop skills.
- Meet other students in the same field and contribute to meaningful work.
- Assist in the preparation of calculations and construction documents on active jobs under the guidance of project leaders.
- Participate in project meetings and site visits.
