About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will work on designing and developing key structural ground systems for Blue Origin’s launch site at LC-36 (Cape Canaveral, FL). You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of a great team building the ground mechanical and structural systems and GSE (Ground Support Equipment) for Blue Origin’s giant rockets, New Glenn and New Glenn 9x4!

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • 3+ years experience with a strong background in design/analysis/construction of large steel structural systems (e.g. steel towers, launch vehicle GSE, aerospace tooling, oil & gas structures, movable structures, steel bridges and platforms, etc).
  • Experience in structural analysis utilizing FEA tools.
  • Experience designing and analyzing bolted and welded connections.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience in STAAD, ANSYS, and SAP2000.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering codes and standards (e.g. IBC, ASCE, AISC, AWS, etc).
  • Experience in PTC Creo/Windchill.
  • 1+ years direct GSE design and analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work under guidance of senior engineers, perform analysis and design tasks with oversight.
  • Develop structural design solutions for large structural/mechanical systems under senior guidance.
  • Perform FEA and hand-calcs for steel structures.
  • Support management of external design and fabrication partners, assist in overseeing equipment fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing & activation.
