Structural Engineer Internship (Summer 2027)
About The Position

BETA Group, Inc. is seeking motivated candidates for our 2027 Summer Internship – Structural Engineering program. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of real-world structural projects alongside a team of experienced engineers, planners, and scientists. This is a valuable opportunity to learn from industry leaders and gain practical skills that will support your future in engineering. Requirements
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering, or related field
- Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts
- General working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platform
- Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities
- Gain valuable hands-on experience to begin building your engineering career
- Apply classroom knowledge to the design and analysis of bridges and culverts for local and state transportation projects
- Support a variety of active projects across both design and construction phases
- Contribute to project tasks and deliverables while learning new technical skills
- Participate in field visits and site inspections to see how designs perform in the real world
- Develop a deeper understanding of the engineering profession through practical experience
- Collaborate with and learn from experienced engineers, planners, and technical staff
- Take initiative in your learning by asking thoughtful questions and actively engaging with your team
