Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights
  • Must be willing to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients and contractors)
  • Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industry strongly preferred
  • Working towards Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
  • Familiarity with Engineering Software Application including computer aided drafting, process modeling and calculations programs
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in Structural Engineering or related field

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of an assigned mentor to develop and implement project deliverables.
  • Perform analysis of building materials for use in construction.
  • Design load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, equipment supports and foundations.
  • Perform structural analysis of new and existing structures for both gravity and lateral (wind and seismic) load conditions.
  • Prepare structural calculations, reports and details of structural elements that conform to client, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Utilize computer aided drafting and a variety of engineering software.
  • Responsible for basic lay out structural systems in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Conduct basic field investigations to integrate the design with existing systems and structures.
  • Assist with development of conceptual designs and coordinating with the design team under direction of the project team lead.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors).
