About The Position

As a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at AKS, you will be part of a dynamic project team supporting the design, analysis, and delivery of structural engineering solutions across a variety of project types—ranging from public infrastructure to commercial and institutional facilities. This role provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities to grow technically while contributing to impactful projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related engineering discipline).
Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or EIT certification in progress.
Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals and eagerness to learn.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, RISA, SAP2000) is a plus.
Previous internship or relevant project experience.

Responsibilities

Assist in the structural design and analysis of buildings, structures, and components using industry-standard tools and engineering principles.
Prepare structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents in coordination with senior engineers.
Support multidisciplinary coordination with civil engineers, surveyors, and other technical teams throughout project delivery.
Participate in project meetings, field visits, and constructability reviews to understand real-world application of structural designs.
Perform research on materials, codes, and standards to support compliant and efficient solutions.
Contribute to internal quality assurance, project documentation, and review processes.
