About The Position

Howard Stein Hudson (HSH) is an expanding engineering and planning firm in Massachusetts, specializing in roadway, structural, traffic, site/civil, and transportation engineering, planning, and community engagement. With offices in Boston, Bridgewater, Chelmsford, and Worcester, HSH works on high-profile, exciting, and complex projects across the New England area. This opportunity is for a Staff Structural Engineer with flexibility on work location, offering a chance to contribute to improving Massachusetts' infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering required
  • 2+ years’ relevant bridge design experience. Recent or upcoming graduates considered.
  • Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze and resolve problems and issues

Nice To Haves

  • E.I.T. preferred
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Familiarity with the MassDOT Bridge Manual a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges
  • Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges
  • Preparation of bridge plans, writing project technical specifications and technical reports, design calculations, and provisions of construction phase services
  • Perform Primary or Independent bridge quantity/cost take-offs
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) of project documents
  • Assist on bridge projects from a technical perspective and coordinate with other disciplines and subconsultants, as necessary
  • Field visits to project sites, as necessary
