About The Position

DPP is seeking a Structural Engineer III for a client in the Aerospace and Defense industry. The position is an onsite, five-month W2 contract in Hagerstown, Maryland. The successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. The Structural Engineer will design, evaluate, and certify products and services spanning mission payloads, electronic systems, integrated aircraft, and orbital and space exploration systems. The role involves examining complex metallic and composite structures and systems, and contributing to the design and development of products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another related discipline.
Typically six or more years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
Experience in static and/or dynamic analyses.
Understanding of engineering principles and practices.
U.S. citizenship.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with finite element structural analysis (FEA) tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
Experience performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using tools such as NASGRO or AFGROW.
Ability to perform classical analysis using industry-standard hand calculation methods.
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, material and hardware selection, and manufacturing and production processes.
Ability to author substantiation reports.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
