This position is for a Structural Engineer III, generally responsible for performing complete design of less complex civil/structural engineering assignments under close supervision. With experience, the role will assist in the design of larger and more complex civil/structural engineering assignments. The work involves utilizing department design and drafting standards, understanding project scope and criteria, developing conceptual layouts and cost studies, and producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs. The engineer will also produce detailed design calculations and sketches for construction materials, ensuring efficient use of materials and ease of construction. Key aspects include checking calculations, assisting the drafting group, consulting with other disciplines, advising senior engineers on changes, reviewing vendor and other discipline drawings, and performing fieldwork for data gathering and construction support. The role also involves developing construction specifications and requires knowledge of discipline-specific methods for process and manufacturing projects.
