About The Position

AECOM is seeking a mid-level Structural Engineer to be based in our New York Metro office to support our Building and Places group that is focused on Transportation. This position will perform site visits to observe and report on construction activities and address field questions as well as coordinate design and construction issues. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for performing specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer, gathering and correlating basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures, and working on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests. The role involves proposing approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments, identifying discrepancies in results, and providing guidance to entry-level engineers. The position requires performing work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision and independently completing all tasks necessary to finalize primary design elements for engineering works. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Requirements

  • BS in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or related discipline plus four (4) year of relevant experience in structural design of buildings and transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education.
  • Must have either ETABS or SAP experience to qualify for this position.
  • Must be able to perform site visits to observe construction activities and/or prepare condition assessment reports.

Nice To Haves

  • PE License or the ability to obtain the license within 12 months of employment.
  • Specific software experience in ETABS or SAP, RAM Structural, AutoCAD, SAFE, TEDDS, SAP2000, MathCAD, SpecsIntact, spColumn, spBeam, spWall, Enercalc.
  • Revit experience is highly desirable.
  • Masters in Structural Engineering.
  • Six (6) years of professional Structural Engineering design experience of buildings and transportation structures is preferred.
