About The Position

Daifuku Airport America Corporation, a subsidiary of Daifuku North America and part of the global Daifuku group, is a leader in automated materials handling systems. The company is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join its Mechanical Airport Baggage Handling engineering team. This role reports to the Engineering Program Manager and works under the direction of the Senior Mechanical Structural Engineer and/or Project Engineer. The Structural Engineer III will be involved in the design and detailing of components such as platforms, header steel, hanger support, floor support, and Kip load for conveyor systems. A key objective is to optimize materials and reduce weight to minimize building structural loads and control manufacturing costs. The position offers opportunities for growth into more complex engineering responsibilities, including system layouts, structural design, and field support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering.
  • Experience with Structural design software such as STAAD, Cad/AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor.
  • Licensed/registered Civil/Structural Professional Engineer in multiple states.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
  • Ability to move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other productivity machinery.
  • Ability to inspect documents.
  • Ability to communicate with others through talking/hearing.
  • Ability to read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • A combination of relevant work experience with industrial automation or material handling systems design may also qualify.
  • FEA (Finite Element Analysis) skill

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Use computer-assisted design (CAD) and collaborate with other engineers and designers to develop system designs and support structures.
  • Perform structural design calculations (automated and by hand) according to applicable codes, and conduct design and detail checking.
  • Prepare design calculation packages for PE stamping.
  • PE stamp design drawings and calculations for applicable states.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain structural and mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Conduct research to test or analyze the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties from a structural design perspective and make recommendations to the maintenance crew.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
  • Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation of product designs.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
