The Structural Engineer 2 will work with a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants. The role involves collaborating with structural engineers, coordinating with engineers from other disciplines, and guiding less experienced project team members. It offers opportunities to apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design across projects for various clients. As part of an engineering and design team, the engineer will prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development. Using computer tools, the engineer will analyze and design steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification, may be required. The position has a hybrid work arrangement: three days per week in the office and two days remotely. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing projects, including new builds, plant life extensions, digital modernization, small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, and reactor restart projects.
