About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support its multi-disciplinary design team in addressing challenging engineering tasks in power generation. The role involves supporting the Nuclear Technical Lead and Department Manager with strategic resourcing, supervising and leading a team of structural engineers, and serving as the Structural Lead/Engineering of Record on projects. The position requires a strong understanding of civil and structural engineering design, fabrication, and construction processes, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate will lead improvements in project efficiencies, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, provide technical expertise for risk assessments and studies, and support projects throughout their lifecycle. This includes directing and contributing to structural engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings, performing quality control reviews, and presenting engineering work internally and to clients.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

Nice To Haves

12+ years of experience with Power Generation and/or Heavy Industrial Facilities
5+ years of experience as project technical Structural lead/electrical engineer of record
Experience in engineering and design of power generation facilities (fossil, thermal, nuclear)
Complex modeling experience
Field construction and commissioning experience
Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams
Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (IBC, AISC, ACI, IEBC, ASCE, etc.).
Structural analysis and modeling software proficiency (e.g. StaadPro)
Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360)
Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects

Responsibilities

Support Nuclear Technical Lead and Department Manager with strategic resourcing initiatives
Supervise and lead a team of structural engineers through their individual and team technical development
Serve as Structural Lead/Engineering of Record on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable development and contributing to the design work
Lead improvements in project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing group specific standards/templates and researching and recommending software packages/plug-ins
Develop task and deliverable list with associated hours estimate and schedule to support business development activities
Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, site layouts, facility retrofits, technical specifications, contractor scopes of work, etc.
Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
Support projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning
Direct, originate and contribute to the development of structural engineering calculations, specifications and drawings
Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others
Participate in and present engineering work at internal and client meetings including those requiring occasional travel
