About The Position

Hood Container Corporation is seeking an experienced On-Site Structural Designer to join our Design Center in Grand Rapids, MI. This Designer will utilize their skills to support the corrugated converting operation at one of the fastest-growing corrugated manufacturers in the U.S! The Designer will work collaboratively with sales, operations, and customers to create packaging designs, prototypes, and samples.

Requirements

Two plus years of experience in graphic, pre-press, or structural design
Experience working with design software, such as Adobe CS-6, Artios CAD, and Impact CAD
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite required
Proficient with Microsoft O365, including Outlook, Word, & PowerPoint
Familiarity with ISTA, ASTM, or other packaging test standards

Nice To Haves

3D Modeling/Blender plus
Experience working in the corrugated industry is preferred

Responsibilities

Utilize Artios CAD to design all forms of POP displays, graphic packaging, and industrial packaging
Understand and interpret documents such as packaging design specifications, operating instructions, including training and procedure manuals
Create mock-ups/samples for customer approval and validation, including providing layouts for CAD lines and print positioning as required
Approve cutting dies and generate corresponding mylars for production
Develop distribution and in-store setup instruction sheets for displays and retail packaging to support client education
Maintain the process of recording, specifications, and revisions to provide accuracy.
Accompany Sales and creative teams on design-related meetings and presentations as needed
Maintain supplies as needed for job functions: mock-ups, mylars, samples, etc.
Ensure design outputs and creative execution meet manufacturing specifications and budgets
