Our mission guides everything we do: from the projects we undertake to the people we hire. A2H is currently seeking a Structural Designer in our Memphis, TN office. Potential projects may include industrial Pre-Engineered metal building foundation design, reinforced concret water/wasterwater infrastructure facilities, structural steel healthcare facilities, concrete masonry education facilities, prestressed concrete roadway bridge structures, and wood framed buildings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering of Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structures from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Engineering Intern (FE) completed or in process of taking
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices and techniques.
  • An understanding and desire to continue learning about the design and details required for constructability and in support of building systems and other structures in various building material types.
  • An understanding of integrated Construction Documents – how a complete set of drawings and specifications should communicate and quantify design intent.
  • Ability to use technology to work with others on the design team that may be located in other offices.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and comfortably build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
  • Proven team mentality and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience with coordination and work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience using Revit Structure is preferred.
  • AutoCAD skills and experience are also valued.
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability is desired.
  • LEED Accreditation is certainly a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Managers and Project Engineers to provide engineering design on structural engineering projects.
  • Assist with work on all phases of various structural engineering projects including design development, preparation of presentation drawings and specifications, reports, design review, coordination and correlation of construction drawings.
  • Coordinate with the design team for incorporating design intent into the construction documentation and specifications.
  • Work with design team and A2H project managers during construction to respond to questions, provide clarifications, visit the site, solve issues, and review submittals and shop drawings.
  • Maintain project document files, including meeting notes, financial information, client correspondence and project schedule.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of technical documents through Quality Assurance reviews at different phases of project.
  • Ensure structural designs comply with code regulations and best practices in structural design.
  • Actively engage with and seek out mentorship from Project Engineers and Senior Engineers to develop structural engineering knowledge and skills.
