About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Designer/Drafter with 1 to 5 years plus of experience to support the structural engineering department in their San Diego office. The successful candidate will assist in creating drawings and project documents from information provided by engineers using various computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, etc. Coffman Engineers serves as both prime consultant and sub consultant on diverse projects including commercial, retail, institutional, government, and industrial. The company, incorporated in 1979, has over 850 employees in more than 23 locations, offering multidiscipline engineering services. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, eager to grow in a multidiscipline engineering office, and contribute positively to the team.

Requirements

  • 1 to 5 years plus experience in drafting and design
  • Knowledgeable in creating and editing structural Revit models
  • Possess computer skills necessary for daily activities including email, word processing, spreadsheets and graphics
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale
  • Possess CAD, layout, and BIM skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience with the latest release of Autodesk Revit design tools
  • Able to work with numerous project teams to help with project completion

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or associate degree in computer-aided drafting & design (or similar)
  • Experience in structural buildings and framing

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating drawings and project documents from information provided by engineers using various computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, etc.
  • Work from detailed engineering sketches to structural models, plans and details.
