About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The position involves utilizing creativity and innovation to develop CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations for 2D drawing deliverables. Responsibilities include supporting senior designers by producing timely and budget-conscious structural drawings that meet or exceed customer requirements, collaborating with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve 3D model clashes, and potentially traveling to client facilities to verify on-site conditions. The role requires adapting to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables, with a focus on carbon capture, solar, wind, battery storage, hydrogen, and natural gas projects.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred, or CAD certificate required if non-degreed.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in structural design.
  • Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
  • Awareness of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design.
  • Awareness of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design.
  • Awareness of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management.

Responsibilities

  • Produce CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations.
  • Create 2D drawing deliverables from 3D models.
  • Support senior designers by producing structural drawings on-time and within budget.
  • Maintain quality, consistency, and accountability to meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve clashes within the 3D model.
  • Optimize the overall design.
  • Travel to client facilities with experienced project team members to verify on-site physical design conditions.
  • Adapt to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables.
