About The Position

STV currently has openings for a Structural Bridge Engineer in the Transportation group at the Empire State Building office in New York City. We are seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineer who is an expert in the field and uses professional concepts in developing resolutions to critical issues. This individual will be responsible for performing the design of new bridges and rehabilitation of bridges, quality assurance, and mentoring entry-level staff. The work will include highway bridges, railroad bridges, and transportation facilities structures in our New York City office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
PE License is required in NY
A minimum of 5 of experience
Familiarity with New York State project design requirements for NYCDOT and NYSDOT
Experience in analysis and design of bridges, including rehabilitation design
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Cost Estimating

Responsibilities

Perform design of new bridges and rehabilitation of bridges
Quality assurance
Mentor entry level staff
Design & analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation and seismic retrofit design, and transportation facilities
Contract Document production and the preparation of PS&E
Bridge load ratings using LRFR and LFD
Review of construction phase submittals
Perform design calculations
Develop plan details
Quantity take offs
Specification writing
Other technical report writing
