About The Position

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking an individual to lead a technical team of students in computer science and cybersecurity to develop the Strong Youth Project mobile application. This application will be used to collect injury risk factor data from adolescent athletes. The role involves teaching students about digital infrastructure, ethical technology use, professional skills, algorithmic problem-solving, programming confidence, digital security, CI/CD principles (Git, branch-based versioning), data automation with Python, SQL database querying and storage, designing technology for research efficiency, and cloud resource hosting.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a technical team of students (computer science and cybersecurity) to develop the Strong Youth Project mobile application.
  • Teach student employees about digital infrastructure and its support for exercise science needs.
  • Instruct students on ethical technology use for task accomplishment.
  • Develop students' professional skills and technological vocabulary.
  • Guide students in algorithmic problem-solving.
  • Build students' confidence in programming skills for job applications.
  • Educate students on digital security.
  • Teach CI/CD principles, specifically Git and branch-based versioning.
  • Instruct students on automating calculations using Python and relevant libraries.
  • Teach querying and storing data in SQL databases and other database types.
  • Facilitate the design of ideas for using technology to enhance research efficiency.
  • Educate students on cloud resources and hosting digital data.
