About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of semi-skilled tasks to maintain the city’s infrastructure, including asphalt patching, concrete finishing, and operating heavy machinery. The role also includes responsibilities in roadway traffic control and public safety. The work environment is primarily outdoors, and the position may involve non-standard shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-backs. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Moderate experience in construction, street maintenance, or groundskeeping.
Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Ability to obtain an Arizona Commercial Driver License (Class A) with Tanker Endorsement within one year of hire (Trainee status applies until obtained).

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with power tools (concrete saws, air hammers, etc.).
Knowledge of roadway traffic control and construction safety.
Strong communication skills for interacting with the public.

Responsibilities

Patch holes, seal cracks, and repair roads/curbs.
Set forms and pour concrete for sidewalks and ramps.
Safely operate light and heavy equipment, including backhoes, loaders, and paint striping trucks.
Fabricate and install street signs, paint crosswalks, and maintain drainage systems/washes.
Set up traffic control zones, perform flagging duties, and ensure a safe environment for the public.
Respond to citizen inquiries and maintain accurate daily work reports.
