Maintenance Worker I - Streets
About The Position
As a Maintenance Worker I with the Streets team, you will perform a variety of tasks to ensure the city streets, parking lots, sidewalks, storm sewers, and rights-of-way are well-maintained and safe for public use. This role primarily focuses on the maintenance of traffic signals, city street/road signs, and pavement markings/paint striping. You will be responsible for filling potholes, working on concrete & asphalt projects, operating various light and heavy construction equipment, engaging in snow removal and storm debris clean up, performing preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, and helping with the set-up and clean-up for community events. You may also provide support to other Public Works teams as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Strong work ethic, good attitude, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain regular and dependable attendance
Responsibilities
- Filling potholes and working on concrete & asphalt projects
- Operating various light and heavy construction equipment (i.e., hand & power tools, jackhammers, trucks, front-end loaders, and skid steers)
- Engaging in snow removal and storm debris clean up
- Performing preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Helping with the set-up and clean-up for community events
- Providing support to the other Public Works teams as needed
- Maintenance of traffic signals, city street/road signs, and pavement markings/paint striping
