About The Position

Zach Gordon Youth Services is looking for a qualified individual to fill our Street Outreach Youth Development Leader position at Shéiyi X_aat Hít Youth Shelter. An ideal candidate for this position will be passionate about building healthy and supportive connections with the youth in our community. We are looking for someone outgoing, who can meet youth and families where they’re at and help them to work through challenges. We are looking for someone who is calm in crisis with problem solving skills, strong communication, flexibility and empathy.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or the equivalent; AND Any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.
A valid driver's license at time of appointment and for continued employment
First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of appointment
Conditional appointment pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI).
Conditional appointment pending the results of a National Criminal History report through the FBI. Applicants must submit their fingerprints to continue in the hiring approval process.
Must document education and/or work experience in the application to meet minimum qualifications.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Participates in street outreach, and is responsible for making connections with youth who may be unhoused, runaways, or at risk of running away.
Providing transportation to the shelter, to a youth’s home, or to another safe location.
Build connections with youth in the community, as well as community partners.
Engaging in recreational activities with youth, providing supplies to support youth in meeting their needs, and supporting youth with communication.
Working alongside a Navigator or Advocate from Zach Gordon and Shéiyi X_aat Hít.
Providing services to youth in their homes.
Helping mediate conflict or engage youth and families in restorative conversations.
